Paint in Fish Tank?

So, is the concensious that you should use a two part epoxy paint for inside an aquarium. I'm restoring a 10 gal visible 1920's gas pump, and using as an indoor aquarium. There are a few metal pipes that I want to leave in. Wondering also if it might just be better to clean up pipes with wire wheel, and not paint? Will exposed metal submerged in the tank hurt angel fish?
