What are several factors why NATO can't win in Afghanistan easily?

Look into Afghanistan history: In 329 BC: Alexander the Great crosses through the rivers of Russia into Afghanistan. Along the way his forces was ambushed by Afghan Guerrilla fighters and stop his advance into China. In 1839, Britain invaded Afghanistan in an attempt to steal their resources as part of the "Great Game" against Russia. 3 years later, Britain withdraw from Afghanistan. In 1879-1880, Britain did it again to gain their resources but has failed. In 1979 Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan as a request from the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan to ouster muajhideen freedom fighters. 10 years later, Soviet Union failed and pulled out. In 9/11, US was attacked and NATO and USA are there to get rid of the Taliban. But 10 years later, no sign of victory. It almost like history repeats itself. When we we ever learn?
